The new product, Oreo Dessert Pizza is the first nationally available dessert pizza in Domino’s nearly 47-year history. The pie is a thin crust layered with vanilla sauce and covered with Oreo cookie crumbles and icing on top.

It sells for $3.99 with any purchase for a limited time.

The contest, called Pie in the Sky, let employees submit their best ideas for pizza or side items, with the Oreo product being a finalist last year, Dana Harville, Domino’s spokesperson, said.

“The product did well in the competition and we decided to take the next step,” Harville said. “We tested the product and customers really seemed to love it.”

New Yorkers next week can try the pie when Domino’s will offer 300 to 400 slices of to passersby in Times Square, Harville said.

Domino’s is supporting the launch with a national ad campaign in English and Spanish, including TV spots, which break on Monday and online at Dominos.com.
