Levi’s, JCPenney Back VH1 Save the Music Initiative
Levi’s and JCPenney are working in harmony to support VH1’s Save the Music Foundation with a fund-raising campaign next week.
The two companies have pledged to raise $100,000 for the foundation, which supports music programs in public schools by donating musical instruments. From July 27 through Aug. 2, Levi’s will donate $5 from each customer who buys two pairs of Levi’s jeans at participating JCPenney stores or at http://www.jcp.com, up to the amount of the company’s total pledge.
As a reward for their participation, customers will receive a $10 JCPenney gift card by mail.
JCPenney is kicking off the program on Sunday with a special performance by Gavin DeGraw at Houston’s Willowbrook Mall Atrium outside the JCPenney store.
Signage
in JCPenney stores, a JCPenney circular and a VH1 e-mail blast are being used
to build awareness of the fund-raising effort, along with information on
jcp.com, GavinDeGraw.com and vhi.com/partners/save_the_music/.
“Restoring music education in our public schools is an important cause and we are proud to partner with these two outstanding corporations as we work toward our goal of bringing music into the core curriculum of each and every public school in our country,” said Paul Cothran, executive director of the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, in a statement.
Rivet
arranged the partnership between the VH1 Foundation, Levi’s and JCPenney, and
handled the respective elements of publicizing the promotion.
VH1’s Save the Music Foundation has donated $40 million in new musical instruments to1,500 schools around the country since its inception in 1997.
