Online video watching grew 45% in the U.S. between late 2006 and late 2007, according to The Pew Internet & American Life Project.

The survey found that 48% of U.S. Internet users now go to YouTube and other video-sharing sites, up from 33% in an earlier 2006 study.

Demographically, women who watch online video every day on average grew to 11% of their segment in 2007, while daily viewers of either sex in the 30-to-49 age group grew to 14%—both more than double the 2006 daily—viewer figures for their categories.

Pew cites the spread of high-speed broadband, now in 54% of U.S. households, and the growing catalog of available video content as factors in the audience increase.
