The carmaker provided a 1965 VW Microbus T1 Panel Van for The Who’s art director Richard Evans to design for the contest. The Who-branded VW bus bears the signatures of the group’s lead singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townsend, who penned the tune that inspired the promotion.

Fans can enter the contest online at www.thewhomagicbus.com, with each entry requiring a $9.86 USD charge with all proceeds going to the Teenage Charity Trust. Each entrant will receive a free download of a previously unreleased live version of the tune if they register by July 8.

Daltrey is a long-time supporter of the Teenage Cancer Trust, a UK-based charity that creates specialized teenage treatment units in the country’s National Health Service hospitals.

“The Magic Bus” contest grew out of a collaboration between VW and the legendary rock band, which performed at the automaker’s 60-year anniversary celebration last fall.
