ESPNU Ramps Up for Student-Generated Content

ESPNU is launching an initiative to cull student-created content for multiple ESPN media platforms.

“ESPNU Campus Connection” will solicit content from students at 20 colleges and universities around the country during its initial year of activation. Content is intended to embrace a broad range, from play-by-play announcing and sideline reporting on games carried on ESPNU to special segments produced by students for ESPN’s other on-air networks, online outlets and ESPN the Magazine.

Schools initially participating in the program include the University of Texas, Texas Southern, University of Tennessee, Syracuse University, Pepperdine University, Ohio University, Georgetown University, Florida State University, University of Georgia, University of Missouri and University of North Carolina.

“This initiative will give each participant an opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience through various ESPN multimedia services,” said Burke Magnus, ESPNU vice president and general manger, in a statement.

North Carolina’s game against UNC-Charlotte will mark the first game for campus connection program, with several North Carolina students assuming production roles, including play-by-play, analysis and sideline reporting.
