CMT and Tyson Foods are joining forces to fight hunger in a food donation campaign around the new season of “Country Fried Home Videos.”

CMT One Country, CMT’s pro-social activation arm, and Tyson will donate one pound of fried chicken to America’s Second Harvest for each person who goes online to www.CMTOneCountry.com and clicks on the ‘donation box’ during the CMT series 12-week run. The show started its current season on July 10.

The campaign will be promoted on-air during segments of “Country Fried Home Videos.” Tyson will also plug the effort on its Web site at www.hungerrelief.tyson.com.

Information about Second Harvest directs people “to the Web site so they can make donations on their own,” Lucia Folk, CMT director of public affairs, said.

CMT One Country and Tyson plan to donate up to 10,000 pounds of fried chicken each week, up to a total of 120,000 pounds, over the course of the campaign. Viewers will also be encouraged to make their own food contributions to America’s Second Harvest.

The campaign will be promoted on the weekly “CMT Top 20 Countdown” and “CMT Insider” series and through CMT’s 120 radio affiliates around the country, according to Folk.

America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network claims to be the largest charitable hunger-relief organization in the U.S.

CMT One Country was launched in 2005 as a vehicle for the MTV Network to help initiated social change. America’s Second Harvest is one of five non-profit organizations it is affiliated with, along with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Habitat for Humanity, Hands On Network and the USO.
