OLD NAVY:
San Francisco, named Deutsch, Los Angeles, to handle its $181
million advertising account. Deutsch is first agency of record for the
Gap division, which has used shops on a project basis to assist its
in-house staff. First work will break in August for back-to-school. Old
Navy continues to handle promotions, in-store marketing, relationship
marketing, p.r. and media in-house.
CHECKERS: drive-in restaurants are sponsoring the Team Cure
Autism Now (CAN) Foundation race car, part of the Kelley Racing Team,
to be entered in the 2004 Indy 500. In addition, Checkers will offer a
collectible large-drink Team CAN Cup featuring the CAN Car and Sarah
Fisher, Team driver. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to CAN
with an expected donation of $100,000. TV spots, P-O-P, newspaper
inserts and an ad in the Indy 500 program support.
RADIO DISNEY: is featured in the May issue of Popstar
magazine with a Mystery Meet sweepstakes, in which one listener/reader
will have a special meet-and-greet with a Radio Disney artist at a
Radio Disney concert. Contestants who jot down the top three songs of
the week on an entry form are featured in the magazine as well as on
the Radio Disney Web site at www.radiodisney.com. DJ-autographed copies of the
magazine are being given away on-air throughout the month of
April.
TARRANT APPAREL GROUP: a provider of private-label casual
apparel and private brands, has signed a license agreement with Cynthia
Rowley to manufacture, market and distribute Cynthia Rowley branded
jeanswear for women. The jeanswear is expected to be available in
department stores and select specialty stores beginning in the fourth
quarter of fiscal 2004. The license is for an initial term of three
years and may be extended by Tarrant Apparel for up to an additional 20
years, subject to meeting certain financial requirements.
MICHAEL KORS: has entered a license agreement with Fossil, Inc.,
to design, develop and distribute a line of women's and men's
timepieces under MICHAEL Michael Kors label. The timepieces are set to
debut this fall in conjunction with the launch of the MICHAEL Michael
Kors label, which includes men's, women's and accessories
collections.
