National Parks Sweeps Garners 140,000 Entries
Dust off your hiking boots: It's National Park Week. The National Park Foundation and its five corporate partners--American Airlines, Ford Motor Co., Kodak, Time and the Discovery Channel--wrap up the Dream Adventure Sweepstakes awarding five grand prize trips. Each of five winners will win a trip to Rocky Mountain, Yosemite, Great Smoky Mountains, Olympic or National Capital. The month-long sweeps garnered 140,000 entries, many of them new names for the non-profit foundation's database.
Grand prizes include airfare on American, car rental from Hertz, Kodak digital photography kit, gift certificate to Discovery Channel stores, a year's subscription to Time and four K2 bikes via Ford.
Second prize (25) is a "National Park Pack" with Fodor's Complete Guide to America's National Parks, America's National Parks by Paul Schullery, the National Parks Edition Monopoly and a National Parks Pass. Players enter at www.nationalparks.org; one winner is announced each night this week on the Travel Channel during parks-related programming.
The corporate partners--dubbed "Proud Partners"--drive traffic to the parks Web site and Discovery's Travel Channel. The Washington-based foundation handles the sweeps in-house; Ventura Associates, New York City, administers the sweeps.
