Kimberly-Clark is giving its chief marketing officer some new duties as part of a larger management reshuffle.

The company, which manufactures products such as Kleenex tissue, is expanding the role of Tony Palmer, its global marketing chief, to include innovation organization.

The change follows the retirement of Steve Kalmanson, group president of the company’s North Atlantic Consumer Products business. Kalmanson, 55, is leaving the firm after a 30-year career. He was a key player in the development and launch of Pull-Ups training pants, GoodNites Underpants and Depend incontinence products, the company said.

Robert Abernathy, the head of K-C's developing and emerging markets business, will replace Kalmanson, whose last day will be in March. Bob Black, who works as chief strategy officer who oversaw innovation, will replace Abernathy.
