Doublemint does a double-take on twins

Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. has launched Doublemint Twins mints, its first Doublemint line extension in 90-plus years.

The mints blend two flavors. Two varieties, Wintercreme and Mintcreme, come in flip-top packages that sell for 69 cents (for 37 mints).

Ads breaking this week put a twist on Wrigley's iconic Doublemint Twins campaign for its flagship Doublemint gum: These twins are two very different people, dressed alike. Energy BBDO, Chicago, handles.

Consumers are invited to submit photos with their "twin" to Doublemint's "Twin Gallery" at Doublemint.com; site visitors can vote for their favorite duo.

Meanwhile, Chicago-based Wrigley is stocking shelves with seasonal spring and Easter candies, including Life Savers Jellybeans, with a discount offer on Peter Cottontail DVD. Other treats are Hubba Bubba Twist & Pour Easter Eggs (plastic eggs filled with mini-pellets of gum); Hubba Bubba Changerz (tart, chewy candy that turns into gum); Hubba Bubba Spring Shapes ( bunnies, flowers, chicks); Life Savers EggSortment and Eggventure Sweet Storybook; Life Savers Pastel Pops and Pastels; shaped Life Savers Gummies (bunnies, chicks); and Cluckers Bubble Gum (wind-up chicken that clucks and lays bubble gum eggs).
