Quiznos Senior VP-marketing Scott Lippitt faces five felony counts stemming from his Aug. 2 arrest, including criminal attempted sexual assault on a child and Internet luring, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Lippitt, 47, was arrested after Cañon City, CO, police said he tried to meet someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex. Lippitt instead was chatting with an undercover female officer, Rocky Mountain News reported.

Lippitt was charged with enticement of a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Internet luring and Internet sexual exploitation of a child. The police investigation is ongoing.

Quiznos officials released a statement about Lippitt's arrest this week. It read, "We found out about this arrest Monday afternoon and are shocked and disappointed. We find any of the alleged behavior reprehensible and have placed Mr. Lippitt on an indefinite leave of absence pending further investigation."

Company spokesperson Bonnie Warschauer would not say who is filling in for Lippitt during his absence. She refused to comment further.

Lippitt's arrest comes as the Denver-based chain celebrates its 25th anniversary. The company launched its silver anniversary with a sweepstakes dangling a chance to win one of 12 Quiznos Subs franchise (PROMO Xtra, Jan. 18, 2006). The sweepstakes, which ended Feb. 25, was one of several promotions planned for the company's anniversary. Quiznos operates more than 4,400 restaurants worldwide.
