Dubbed Da Day for the "Day After," the QSR says the Monday following the Super Bowl should be a holiday so consumers can recover from a day of eating, drinking and lots of football. A recent survey found that 1.4 million U.S. adults call in sick the day after the Big Game.

So, White Castle has teamed up with the National Academy of Persons (NAP) to entice consumers to sign an online petition at DaDay.com. designating Da Day as a holiday on Feb. 6.

Consumers who sign the petition can opt to receive e-mails from White Castle. The Web site also includes a list of 10 "excuses" consumers can give their bosses to call out sick. Some of the excuses include, "I've got a 360-degree fever"; "The bartender won't let me leave" and "My wife/husband grounded me." As of mid-day Tuesday, just over 3,400 people signed the petition, according to the Web site.

"We want to help NAP succeed," said Kim Bartley, White Castle spokesperson, in a statement. "So, we developed a Da Day Manifesto for all to sign and posted it on a special Da Day Web site."

White Castle is working with three 28-year-old men, who make up the NAP, to make the holiday a reality. The three former college roommates—Jerry Kaltenbach of Columbus, OH, Brian Foy of Downer Grove, IL and Vasili Trikoupis of Astoria, NY—earned White Castle fame when they took Crave Cases—packages consisting of 30 White Castle burgers—as luggage on a spring break trip to St. Maarten.
