Staples Buys American Identity

Staples has acquired American Identity, a global distributor of corporate branded merchandise, from Republic Financial Corp.

With the deal, Staples expands its capabilities in the $18 billion promotional products industry, while American Identity gets to tap into Staples delivery and retail businesses, the companies said.

American Identity is expected to operate as a stand-alone business.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
