Sandwich quick-service chain Quiznos is offering a buy-one-get-one-for-a-buck deal on selected menu items now through Labor Day.

Customers who purchase a regularly priced Classic Italian, Turkey Ranch & Swiss, Mesquite Chicken or Traditional Quiznos sub will be able to take advantage of the new “Toasty Toasty” promotion to get another of the same size for $1.

In press releases, the company is framing the promotion as a way to restore to the average American worker some of the benefits that they’ve lost in the current recession. In a survey of 208 respondents the company conducted July 20-22, Quiznos found that seven in 10 workers reported losing perks as a result of workplace cutbacks.

“Quiznos feels the pain of today’s worker and wants to play a part in easing it,” Quiznos CMO Trey hall said in the release. “While we can’t affect what workplaces do, we can help the average worker do more with less.”

Other findings from the Quiznos job survey:

  • Three out of five respondents said they’d like to get a paid vacation day in compensation for lost perks.
  • Almost 56% of those polled said they would give their paid day off to a recently discharged colleague or to another employee with whom they work closely.
  • Only 13.5% of respondents reported feeling “very appreciated” by the company or organization they work for.

 To date there’s no indication that the theme of helping colleagues will be carried through point-of-sale or other marketing materials around the “Toasty Toasty” campaign.

The Toasty Toasty campaign has rolled out to participating stores in the Quiznos chain.
