Racing Stripes is a live action film about a young girl who raises an abandoned baby zebra, named Stripes, on a Kentucky ranch. When the zebra is fully grown, the girl asks her father, a retired horse trainer, to let Stripes compete in the year's biggest horse race, the Kentucky Crown. Racing Stripes will be released in theaters on Jan. 14.
The QSRs expect to distribute about 1.5 million premiums through the promotion.
Carl's Jr. Cool Kids Combo includes choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger, chicken stripes or stars or a taco, French fries, a drink and a toy. Hardee's Cook Kids Combo includes mini burgers, chicken strips, French fries, a drink and a toy.
As part of the promotion, the QSRs join Kodak in a sweepstakes give-away with a grand-prize trip to a dude ranch. The Racing Stripes Sweepstakes is open to U.S. residents ages three to 12. Consumers can enter the sweepstakes online by visiting Carlscoolkids.com or Hardeescoolkids.com or fill out an entry form on Cool Kids meal bags.
One grand-prize winner will receive a trip for a family of four to a selected dude ranch. Additional prizes from Kodak will be awarded. The sweepstakes runs through Feb. 7.
In store advertising, P-O-P, branded meal bags and the Internet support the promotion. Newport Beach, CA-based CDM handles the promotion and sweepstakes.
