The comic books, called “Triple-A Baseball Heroes,” features Marvel characters Spider-Man, Iron-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk. The books put the super heroes in the middle of the Triple-A All-Star game with the league’s mascots.

About 5,000 comic books will be available for giveaways by each Triple-A team (30 in all) through Sept. 2. Each team’s logo will be embossed on the cover. A total of 150,000 comic books will be distributed.

As part of the promotion, Marvel Entertainment has made three covers available for games in Buffalo, NY, Durham, N.C, and Memphis, TN. The covers will be uniquely designed to each city, according to Marvel Entertainment.

For example, for last Sunday’s game with the Buffalo Bisons, the cover paid homage to Norman Rockwell’s “Bottom of the Sixth.” It shows the team’s mascot, Buster Bison, with Iron Man and Captain America as the umpires wondering whether to call the game because of rain.

Teams that don’t have a specific cover will hand out comic books with a generic cover displaying Marvel characters and team mascots.
