Wimbledon Meets Grand Central Station
NEW YORKTennis Magazine, British Airways, and Rolex Watch USA have turned Grand Central Station's Vanderbilt Hall into a replica of All England's Club, allowing commuters and tourists a virtual Wimbledon experience.
Commuters take a break to watch Wimbledon action at Grand Central Station
British Airways presents the Tennis Magazine Wimbledon Experience features royal guards, ivy walls and simulated grass playing surfaces. Seating and giant monitors will allow the public to watch the action at the 118th Championships free of charge.
The three-day extravaganza is held through today. Matches from Wimbledon will be broadcast live via ESPN and NBC, with footage of classic Wimbledon matches courtesy of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, shown when The Championships are not being televised.
The venue also features a fast serve competition where consumers can test the speed of their serve with the opportunity to win prizes. Passerby can also play the British Airways Wimbledon instant-win game, where they have a chance to win daily prize giveaways including tennis racquets and bags, theater tickets, hotel stays, official Wimbledon hats and more.
This is the third year of the promotion, handled by Synergy Sports, Ocean, NJ.
