Scholastic Promotes “Golden Compass” Series with Online Chat

Scholastic Media will host a live online chat today with Dakota Blue Richards, the 12-year-old star of the movie “The Golden Compass,” filmed from the first volume of a trilogy by children’s author Philip Pullman and published in the U.S. by Scholastic.

The live chat begins at 6:30 EST tonight on http://www.scholastic.com and will last for an hour. Before the session, visitors to the site will have a chance to vote in an online poll to select one question that will definitely be asked of Richards.

The Scholastic site will also host a “Golden Compass” sweepstakes, which fans can enter for a chance to win a grand prize of an iPod Nano and a complete set of “Golden Compass” movie tie-in books. The contest runs through Jan. 7.
