As part of the three-year deal, which began last week, Beckham will exclusively carry Motorola products during the World Cup Soccer tournament underway in Germany. The sports star will also appear in Motorola ads and participate in retail promotions rolling out across the network of its stores and distributors throughout Asia.

The deal also gives the wireless communications provider the ability to embed exclusive Beckham content—such as screen savers and video clips of the star in action—in Motorola handsets.

Additionally, Beckham will support Motorola initiatives, including a newly launched (MOTO)RED mobile phone created to raise funds to eliminate AIDS in Africa.

"We're very excited about this collaboration for ourselves, our customers and our consumers," said Jeremy Dale, VP-retail marketing, Motorola Mobile Devices in a statement. "David Beckham is a global icon and we look forward to working with him across a range of projects. In particular, we're delighted that he'll be using his immense popularity to help promote (MOTO)RED."

Financial terms of the agreement, which was brokered by Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment firm, were not disclosed.

A Fortune 100 company, Motorola had sales of $36.8 billion in 2005.
