Buick Signs on for Hartford PGA Tour Stop

After Canon dropped out as a title sponsor one year ago, the Greater Hartford Open will be sponsored by Buick for the next three years starting in 2004.

The PGA Tour tournament will be renamed the Buick Championship. The Flint, MI-based General Motors brand sponsors three tournaments on the Tour: the Buick Invitational in La Jolla, CA; the Buick Classic in Rye, NY; and the Buick Open in Grand Blanc, MI.

Canon had sponsored the 52-year-old tournament in Hartford, CT, for 18 years before dropping the event in 2002.

The Greater Hartford Jaycees will recruit additional local and national sponsors. The 2004 tournament will take place on Aug. 23 to 29.
