Dick's Sporting Goods Takes Apprentice Task In-Store

Dick's Sporting Goods is taking its upcoming task on The Apprentice to a store near you.

The retailer will leverage its brand integration deal on tonight's episode with a three-day, in-store event modeled after the Apprentice task. During the show, competing teams must create an in-store interactive event to engage customers, drive traffic and increase sales. The Apprentice airs tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC.

To further leverage the brand's on-air appearance, Dick's Sporting Goods is rolling out the challenge inspired by the TV show task in-store Oct. 28-30. During the event, customers can try their hand at the Make It Take It Sharpshooter Challenge. Players get 24 seconds to make five shots, one at each designated floor spot. Participants get a prize for each basket they make. Consumers who sink all five baskets will win five prizes and a $100 Dick's Sporting Goods gift card.

Spaulding, Adidas, Lifetime TV, the NBA and EA Sports are sponsoring the challenge.

The event runs Oct. 28 from 5 to 9 p.m., Oct. 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Oct. 30 from noon to 4 p.m. at 107 participating stores nationwide. Online materials, in-store signage and e-mail blasts support.

As with other brands involved with the television show this season, Dick's Sporting Goods is running a sweepstakes to send one winner and a guest to New York to see The Apprentice season finale. The prize package includes VIP access to the show's after-party, hotel accommodations and a $500 Dick's Sporting Goods gift card.

Consumers can enter the sweepstakes online at DicksSportingGoods.com The sweepstakes is open to consumers 21 and older and runs through Nov. 7.
