The coupon, co-branded by both Wendy’s and Allstate, thanks customers for their participation and purchase of stock shares. The coupon appears to be good for one free Classic Double with Cheese and one free medium drink.

In a statement at Wendys.com, the firm said: "Neither Wendy’s or Allstate issued the coupon, and we’ve taken steps to have the coupon removed from various Web sites. However, it is being forwarded to other sites and to our customers and shareholders via e-mail. While it looks real, it is not a valid coupon and we are not able to accept it in our restaurants."

Wendy’s first discovered the problem in November after consumers tried to redeem the fake coupons, said Wendy’s spokesperson Denny Lynch.
