Customers who make a donation through April 7 at Bon-Ton and participating Goodwill locations will receive a 20% off coupon toward the purchase of new merchandise for each item donated.

People who visit any of the 25 Goodwill stuff the truck locations and donate merchandise will receive two 20% off coupons for each item given, Bon-Ton said.

“Coupons/discounts have a part of the retail scene for many years,” said Mary Kerr, Bon-Ton spokesperson said. “The customer has come to expect discounts/coupons—just as they expect discounts from their grocery store. We find coupons to be an incentive to drive traffic and to gain or maintain market share.”

Donated clothing and textiles will be sold in local Goodwill retail stores.

The retail trade-in promotion is in its 14th year. Last year, the event generated more than 9 million pounds of donated items.
