Pretzel Time and Pretzelmaker are staging a video contest in hopes of crowning the Pretzel Dog as the new summertime snack of choice over a traditional hot dog.

The firms are looking for original videos less than two minutes long that show a Pretzel Dog, the brands’ top-selling menu item, defeating a hot dog in a bun in some creative challenge. Videos can be uploaded to the Pretzel Dogs Kick Bun Video Challenge at http://www.kickbun.com through Sept. 9.

One grand-prize winner will receive $5,000. A panel of judges will score entries based on
originality and creativity, the use of a Pretzel Dog, humor, production quality and suitability.

In one video, a man tests the durability and appeal of a hot dog and Pretzel Dog after sending each in a tube through a bank drive-through chute. The footage shows the Pretzel Dog withstanding the challenge and the hot dog returning in a jumbled pile.

Branded pages on MySpace, Facebook and YouTube support the contest. Ogilvy Public Relations and Summit are handling the promotion. Pretzel Time and Pretzelmaker are part of NexCen Brands, Inc.
