Goodlife Recipe Contest Calls for Consumer Pet Videos

Any social-networking marketer will tell you that there’s almost nothing easier than getting Web visitors to talk, photograph or video their pets and share that material on the Internet. Pet food maker The Goodlife Recipe is counting on that to energize its new user-generated content contest, “Here’s to the Goodlife,” in which people can upload videos of their exploits with their pets for a chance to win $10,000 and star in an ad for the company.

The Goodlife is searching for videos featuring special moments that show “how well you and your cat or dog live life together,” the company said in a statement.

From now until Oct. 15, visitors to GoodLifeRecipe.com can upload videos of 60 seconds or less. Six finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges, including Grammy-winning recording artist LeAnn Rimes.

One grand-prize winner will receive $10,000, a year’s supply of Goodlife Recipe pet food, a charitable food donation to the local pet therapy group of their choice and the chance to appear in an upcoming ad for The Goodlife Recipe.

The second-prize winner will get $5,000, a professional owner-and-pet photo shoot for possible use in Goodlife Recipe marketing, a year’s supply of pet food for themselves and a food donation to a pet charity.

Visitors to the Web site can view a face-off of two recent ad submissions and to vote for their favorite—although those results will have no impact on the judges’ verdicts.
