As part of the 2008 Denny’s All-American High School Championships, set for March in North Brunswick, NJ, 18 girls and 16 boys will compete for up to $10,000 in scholarships and a shot at bowling with the pros on ESPN.

This is the second year Denny’s is sponsoring the tournament, in cooperation with the Professional Bowlers Association and the U.S. Bowling Congress.

The three entities will select two high school seniors, one female and one male, from states where bowling is a varsity sport. Applications from students with a minimum 2.7 grade point average must be postmarked by Jan. 21. Information is available at PBA.com or at the high school section of Bowl.com.

The high school tourney on March 28-30 coincides with the 65th Denny’s U.S. Open in North Brunswick.

“Given the success of the inaugural Denny’s All-American High School Championships, Denny’s and our partners couldn’t be more pleased to forge ahead with the second annual high school event,” Michael Polydoroff, Denny’s director of sales promotion and licensing, said in a statement.

Two female and two male bowlers will compete head-to-head on the final day of the competition for a shot at the top prize.
