'Family Guy’ Teams with Subway for In-Store Promo

Subway is driving viewership of "Family Guy" on collector cups.

Fox’s “Family Guy” has teamed up with Subway for its first, national quick-service restaurant promotion, which includes an online game and TV spots using characters from the series.

The promotion celebrates the 100th episode of the popular Fox series and kicked off yesterday in 22,000 Subway shops.

Subway is offering “Family Guy”-branded collector’s cups aimed at young men. P-O-P also drives tune in to the show. Fifteen- and 30-second TV spots star “Family Guy” character Peter Griffin giving a humorous ode to the Subway Feast sandwich.

"Subway's attitude and irreverence is the perfect platform for the 'Family Guy' brand's trademark twisted humor," said Howard Nelson, vice president worldwide promotion for 20th Century Fox licensing and merchandising, in a statement.

The promotion, which runs through Dec. 30, also includes “The Family Guy Quahog Triangle” online game, which lets players answer trivia questions with help from some of the series residents. The game is available at http://www.SubwayFreshBuzz.com.

Catapult Marketing handles P-O-P and MMB handles the online components, as well as TV spots, Subway spokesman Mack Bridenbaker said.
