American Greetings Launches Online Sweeps

American Greetings Corp. is out with an online sweepstakes to promote its latest funny card selection in-store.

The greeting card company is giving away a $100 retail card and five $10 iTunes gift cards daily through Aug. 31. People can register for the “Sounds Funny to Me” sweepstakes at www.americangreetings.com/retailers. After registering, people listen to a joke and click on an icon to see if they won a prize.

Non-winners can print a coupon redeemable for a free card at an American Greetings retailer. Entrants can also spread the word about the sweeps by sending a free humorous e-greeting from the site to friends.

The company is using the sweeps to highlight its new greeting card collection, which features new cards from “South Park” and “Family Guy” characters.

American Greetings is handling the promotion in-house. Call outs on www.AG.com and tear-offs pads at retail locations support the effort.
