Momentum Worldwide has hired David Bonthrone as senior vice president of business leadership to head the company’s retail and shopper marketing discipline, a new position.

In his role, Bonthrone oversees the Johnson & Johnson account and will be based in New York City. He began the job last month.

Most recently, he worked for Saatchi & Saatchi X, where he was client president and manager of the New York office and responsible for the global relationship with Procter & Gamble.

Bonthrone has a diverse entrepreneurial background and has worked not only in retail marketing, but in the interactive/CRM space and also headed his own marketing agency, Momentum said.

Momentum Worldwide ranked No. 7 on the 2008 Promo 100 with 2007 revenue of $150 million.
