DraftFCB Sets New Management

DraftFCB has set new management and restructured account services following the June merger of Draft and ad agency Foote, Cone & Belding.

The combined agency adds three layers of management: operating division directors in the U.S.; regional directors globally; and discipline experts that DraftFCB offices worldwide can tap for promotions, media, digital and research expertise. DraftFCB starts working under a single P&L on Jan. 1, 2007, with plans to rollout its new structure globally by March 2008.

At its top tier, DraftFCB promotes Laurence Boschetto to president-COO, a post he held overseeing Draft's global operations before the merger. Jonathan Harries keeps his title of global chief creative officer for DraftFCB; he had played the same role at FCB before taking the post for the combined shop in June.

One of Harries' mandates is to improve DraftFCB's creative profile globally. To that end, he will supervise the agency's chief creative officers in Latin America; the U.S. and Canada; Europe/Middle East/Africa; and Asia Pacific. (Creative heads for merged offices in non-U.S. markets will be named later.)

The new account-services structure puts clients at the hub, with creative, account, media, planning and data as spokes that collaborate across disciplines. DraftFCB will roll out an extensive training and development program next year to upgrade staff skills to suit the new structure.

"We are determined to make DraftFCB the place where the smartest and most talented people in our business want to work," said CEO Howard Draft in a statement.

DraftFCB has named "global capability heads" to oversee specific disciplines and other functions, such as new business:

  • Lor Gold becomes chief promotions, retail & advertising officer; he had been chief creative officer at Draft Chicago.
  • Pam Larrick becomes chief digital, direct & CRM officer; she had been chairman-CEO of FCBi.
  • Janet Pines becomes chief insight officer; she had been executive VP-global chief strategy officer at Foote Cone & Belding.
  • Vita Harris becomes chief incite officer; she had been executive VP-director of insight services at Draft.
  • Richard Gagnon becomes chief media officer; he had been president of FCB Media in the U.S., which remains part of the main agency.
  • Tony Weisman becomes chief growth officer; he had been CMO at Draft Chicago.

The agency also named new leaders for its operating units worldwide:

  • At DraftFCB Chicago, Mark Modesto becomes president; he had been co-president of FCB Chicago. Yvonne Furth becomes chief operating officer; she had been president-CEO of Draft Chicago. Tom O'Keefe becomes chief creative officer; he had been executive VP-executive creative director of FCB Chicago.
  • At DraftFCB New York, Peter DeNunzio becomes president; he joined the shop earlier this month from Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide. Christoph Becker becomes chief creative officer; he had been chief creative officer of FCB New York. Wendy Lurrie becomes general manager; she held the same post at Draft New York
  • For DraftFCB's China and corridor offices, Mark Pacchini becomes president of Global Accounts, China & Corridor Offices, including those in Seattle, San Francisco and Irvine, CA. He had been co-president of FCB Chicago.
  • Dana Maiman remains as president of FCB Healthcare, which adopts the new name DraftFCB Healthcare.

Three regional presidents will oversee offices outside the U.S.:

  • David Florence becomes regional president for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada; he had been president-CEO of Draft's international operations.
  • Rafael deGuzman becomes regional president overseeing Latin America, Korea and Japan; he had been president-CEO of FCB International.
  • Anil Kapoor becomes regional president for India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and The Philippines; he had been managing director-CEO of FCB-Ulka in India.

Lastly, Bob Oates remains as CFO, a post he held at Foote Cone & Belding, and Wally Petersen remains as chief communications officer, a post he held at Draft. Teresa Fellows becomes chief administrative officer overseeing H.R., I.T., Real Estate, and Project Management; she had been head of global operations at Draft.
